Waving

Hello, Just a quick post to wave to everyone. I've not gone away, I've just rather run out of oomph in terms of this blog. I could blame the weather or whatever but it wouldn't convince me, I don't know about you! I will be back more frequently soon.

I had wanted to enter the garden for a competition, just a local thing, but it wasn't anywhere near ready. I mean long-term ready. So I think I did the right thing in not, but I feel a little deflated.

Even so I'm aiming to bring things to a reasonably tidy state in about a week or so and take some pictures. We shal see...

  1. Hello, Emily! I'm waving back. Having your garden judged is quite traumatic, so if you weren't sure, I think you made the right decision. My stepmother didn't even enter hers for the local In Bloom competition but was told she'd won the category for the Best Arid Garden. She didn't know whether to be pleased or offended.

  2. Ha ha ha - I love that. Yes it was In bloom that it would have been, and in Horley we don't have an arid gategory, I assure you. I strongly suspect, from looking at the front gardens that win, that hybrid tea roses and bedding in straight lines are the order of the day. But I'm being mean now because I chickened out.

  3. Hi Emily The weather doesn't help though, it is so hot.
I went to RHS gardens Wisley today with my camera. Actually I have ordered a new camera today but haven't dared tell Mike yet!

I always come back with ideas from Wisley but none as expensive as this one. I got chatting to a photographer who was doing arial photos of the small gardens. I think his avice finally clinched what I had been considering for some months.

I am hopeing it arrives before I go to Hampton Court flower show on the 8th July.

Looking forward to more of your posts soon.

If you aren't feeling in the mood to be typing away, take time for yourself, work in your garden a bit, enjoy the sunshine, we'll be here when you feel up to it. xx

  6. Hello Emily. Summer time is such a busy time. Everyone understands priorities change and we all are slacking off this time of year on our blogging. Have a relaxing time although I am sure you will be busy in the garden.

  7. BTW, I managed to buy a copy of the Napoleon of Notting Hill AND a copy of the Father Brown stories, so thanks so much for mentioning it. It's always nice to have some holiday reading.

  8. Emily I am with you! I am running out of topics to post about as well! Normally this time of year my garden would be a lush oasis, but instead it is a dehydrated wilted mess!

  9. Hi Emily, I know what you mean! Blogging in the summer is more of a pain for me than a joy! In the winter, it's much easier, with no guilt or regret for 'wasting half of my day'!! I can't imagine entering my garden in a contest. Your English gardens are so beautiful though. Having a woodsy lot, it's hard for mine to ever stay the same; one day it looks good, then it's all down hill either from lack of or too much water, too much or too little sun, too much heat and humidity, just plain lack of attention, or from the trees dropping leaves and other debris! I just take it on a daily basis and know it'll never be win a prize but I enjoy watching it grow and change with the seasons. Have a great summer.
