Hello :) It's growing from a bulb. They were a batch of old ones I had sitting around, I just planted them on the off-chance that some were still viable. I *think* some may have been gladiolus, yes!
Lovely to see you back, Emily, and I do like your Gladiolus. I took several photos of very similar ones on holiday this year - I hadn't realised until then that Gladioli could be so elegant, I'd always thought they were rather brash and garish things.
